Magic Dirt posed that very question on their album of the year 2000. We here at Matheson by no means profess to be rockstars, mind. But they bring up a very good point.
Its been a while since we posted anything here. I thought it was time to update you. I don’t feel to bad about it, though – The Drones haven’t updated their site since August last year, either!
Anyway, today, us rockstars will be back in the studio. I’ve just come from there, actually. And at about 1:15am – I’m proud to say – Matheson turned METAL!
Well, not fully metal. We haven’t gone Metal On Metal. But we might have found the new sound. You’re going to want to stock up on fresh pairs of socks when we release our new album – because it will knock your socks off. All of them. Get some bandages to wrap around your head, or find yourself a tight beanie – because it’ll blow your mind!
This is all a longhanded way of saying “The new songs sound BIG and TOUGH”. The ones we worked on tonight do, anyway. And I welcome it!
Now, though, I feel like a zombie. The boys from Yacht Club DJs might look like zombies (and you can too if you’re quick – that’s where I’d be tomorrow if we weren’t recording), but I stumbled out into a hot Ballarat night certainly feeling like the walking dead.
So that’s what rockstars are doing today – hiding from the Ballarat heat in a recording studio, cranking out the Sonic Youth-style NOYZE!!!!
See you in a few weeks at the Begonia Festival (March 12). I’ll try post some photos tomorrow for those interested….
Increase the peace,
Steve-o
